Hawley Archives

The Asa Holden Place

The archives of the Sons and Daughters of Hawley are housed in one section of The Grove. The collection consists of photographs, letters, town records, maps, deeds, and other documents related to the history of the Town of Hawley. There are numerous artifacts, including a collection unearthed during two seasons of archaeological excavation at the site of the Sanford Tavern near the old town common. Documents and photographs have recently been organized and placed in acid-free containers; tapes, cassettes, and CDs containing recorded oral history interviews have been inventoried. Members of the SDH are cataloguing the collection.
