Old Town Common Clean-up and Picnic Social

The first annual SDH Old Town Common Clean-up and Picnic Social will take place on Sunday, June 16, 2024.

We will gather at the Old Town Common, on East Hawley Road, at 10:30 a.m. to work together, clearing and neatening the trails and foundations, and cleaning the interpretive signs. At noon, we will stop working and have a picnic lunch. After lunch, those interested can take a walk, led Peter Gotta, through the woods to “The Erratic,” which is a giant glacial boulder.

For the lunch, participants should bring whatever they want to eat; the members of the Board will provide drinks and desserts. If it is raining, we will have lunch at the Grove. Be sure to wear clothing that you will be comfortable in while doing the clean-up work (including work gloves), and you may want to bring loppers and a rake, as well.
